Gäste der Veranstaltung sind diverse Prominente, u.a. Bill Clinton, Robert De Niro und Michael Stipe. Bono wird von seiner Frau Ali und seinen Kindern begleitet, sowie von Edge und U2's Manager Paul McGuinness. Zunächst halten verschiedene Gäste eine Laudatio für Bono, darunter Edge und Bill Clinton. Im Anschluss hält Bono selbst eine Rede und spricht über seinen Kampf gegen AIDS und Armut. Es wird auch ein Film über Bono's Arbeit in Afrika gezeigt. Nach dem Dinner kommt es zum musikalischen Höhepunkt des Abends: Zahlreiche Künstler ehren Bono mit Coverversionen von U2 Songs, u.a. B.B. King, No Doubt, Mary J. Blige, Norah Jones, Garbage, Sheryl Crow und Elvis Costello. Und zum Abschluss betritt Bono selbst die Bühne und singt, begleitet von Klavier, Bass und Streichern, den Sinatra-Song 'That's Life'.
