A great show man, a great communicator of ideas even if you didn't agree with all of them, a great friend to the world’s poor which is how I got to meet him. Without John Paul II its hard to imagine the Drop the Debt campaign succeeding as it did." Während des Konzertes heute Morgen in Anaheim widmeten U2 den Song Miracle Drug dem verstorbenen Papst. Schon beim ersten Konzert in Anaheim hatten U2 '40' dem im Sterben liegenden Papst gewidmet. Am 23. September 1999 hatte Bono gemeinsam mit einer Delegation von Jubilee 2000 Papst Johannes Paul II. im Vatikan getroffen (
